Coronavirus – Volunteering to Help

I am aware that a number of parish councils and individuals are taking a proactive role in setting up various initiatives to support the elderly and vulnerable in our communities at this difficult time.

Both Kent County Council and Ashford Borough Council are following the advice from central government, who recommend that the best way to co-ordinate local community volunteer support is via the district/borough councils.

Accordingly Ashford Borough Council has set up a dedicated page on its website: https://www.ashford.gov.uk/your-community/emergency-planning/health-and-pandemics/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-help-for-the-community/

There is link to this on the KCC website together with information about the KCC response to the Coronavirus situation: https://www.kent.gov.uk/social-care-and-health/health/coronavirus?utm_source=kcc&utm_medium=homepagealert&utm_campaign=covid19

May I say how enormously grateful I am to parish councils and community groups for stepping up to assist in this most challenging situation.  KCC and ABC are working hard to continue delivering services to our population but the role of local community volunteers is going to be absolutely crucial in the weeks and months ahead.
